No one could have predicted a year ago what has now happened to the world. A new virus strain has seriously affected many nations and our UK society is facing challenges that have not been experienced during many people’s lifetime. But why has this happened? Various theories have been put forward as explanations but whether these are true or not the reality is that the God of the Bible is speaking to us and it is vital that we listen. What is God saying to us in this Coronavirus Pandemic? Jesus’s teaching to those around Him upon hearing about the death of others due to tragic events is instructive. He called upon His hearers to repent which means to turn from one’s sins and to turn to God (Luke 13:1-5). By the current worldwide calamity God is giving a loving warning to all human beings to seek and find Him before the coming Day of Judgement. He is calling us to turn from our sins and to trust in His Son Jesus Christ in order to be right with Him. As the Bible says “Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon” (Is. 55: 6-7).

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1v15)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5v8)
For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10v13)
